Petrochemical Sector

Safe Transfer in Explosive Environments

Petrochemical and refinery facilities contain areas subject to ATEX Zone 1 and Zone 2 explosive atmosphere classification. Pumps to be used in these areas must be manufactured from antistatic materials in accordance with the ATEX directive.

Pumpport PA series metal casing ATEX diaphragm pumps offer safe and reliable performance in the transfer of crude oil components and refinery products. Explosive atmosphere safety is ensured as the risk of electrical sparks is eliminated.

  • PA series models with ATEX Zone 1 & 2 certification
  • Spark prevention with antistatic and earthing connection
  • Crude oil, aromatic solvent and fuel transfer
  • Die-cast aluminum and SS316L body options
  • No external power required - air-powered

Advantages

Highlights for Petrochemicals

ATEX Compliant

Certified for Zone 1 and Zone 2 explosive atmospheres; operates without electricity.

Antistatic Structure

The risk of static sparks is prevented by the earthing connection and the choice of conductor material.

High Pressure

Working pressure up to 8.4 bar for high viscosity refinery products and crude oil.

Stepless Flow Rate

With the air regulator, instant flow rate adjustment can be made according to the process requirement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Curiosities in Petrochemical Pump Selection

No. According to the ATEX directive, only ATEX approved equipment may be used in Zone 1/2 classified areas. The use of non-ATEX equipment is both a legal and safety violation.
Crude oil viscosity varies with temperature. Pumpport selects the pump by applying a flow correction factor according to the specified temperature range and viscosity values.
Standard diaphragm materials (PTFE, NBR) may be suitable up to 120°C. For higher temperatures special material configuration is required; please consult our technical team.
