About PA Series

Metal Diaphragm Pump Why Is It Preferred?

Metal diaphragm pumps (PA Series) are designed to withstand heavy industrial conditions with aluminum (AL), cast iron (CI), and AISI 316L stainless steel (SS) body options. The capability to operate safely at ambient temperatures dropping down to -18°C makes the PA Series indispensable for cold storage transfers, outdoor winter installations, and cold chemical processes. While polypropylene bodies become brittle at these temperatures, aluminum and steel bodies maintain their mechanical integrity completely.

The PA Series offers flow capacity ranging from 57 lpm to 894 lpm with a model range extending from 3/4" to 3". The maximum operating pressure is 7 bar in the PA 05 model and 8.4 bar in larger models (PA 10 and above). This series, which achieves a discharge head of up to 80 m, is preferred in applications where centrifugal pumps prove insufficient, such as in long pipelines or installations with high static resistance. Thanks to its mechanical shock resistance, it can be safely deployed in high-traffic areas, on vibrating platforms, and in mobile equipment.

In terms of chemical compatibility, the PA Series supports Santoprene, Neoprene, Buna-N (NBR), EPDM, FKM and PTFE diaphragm options. This flexibility addresses a broad fluid portfolio including petrochemical solvents, paints and varnishes, wastewater sludges and various industrial oils. Models with 316L stainless steel bodies demonstrate superior performance in chloride-containing environments and aggressive chemicals, while aluminum body models offer an economical choice for general industrial applications requiring a balance of cost and weight.

  • Operating temperature between -18°C and +100°C — safe operation in cold environments and winter conditions
  • On PA 10 and higher models, 8.4 bar maximum operating pressure
  • Mast height 80 m — suitable for long-distance or high static resistance lines
  • Aluminum, cast iron and 316L stainless steel body alternatives
  • Mechanical impact resistance — reliable on vibration platforms and mobile equipment
  • ATEX certified — meets EX zone requirements for petrochemical and paint industries

Prominent Advantages of PA Series

Low Temperature Performance

The PA Series, with its safe operating capability down to -18°C, performs tasks that plastic-bodied alternatives cannot achieve in cold storage facilities, cold chemical transfer, and winter outdoor installations. The metal body does not break or crack at low temperatures.

8.4 Bar High Pressure

PA 10 and higher models are safely used in filter press feeding with 8.4 bar operating pressure, long pipe lines with high static resistance, and horizontal long-distance transfer applications.

Mechanical Impact Resistance

Metal body completely eliminates the risk of plastic bodies breaking on vibrating platforms, installations near compressors, and in areas where accidental impact risk is high. It provides long service life.

ATEX Compliant Safety

PA Series metal-bodied models; with their natural conductive structure and ATEX certification, are safely used in Zone 1–2 (gas) and Zone 21–22 (dust) explosive atmospheres. It is the preferred standard in solvent and petrochemical transfer.

316L Stainless Steel Option

SS 316L body; offers resistance exceeding aluminum's limits against chloride-containing environments, saline solutions, and highly corrosive chemicals. It is preferred for the most demanding corrosive conditions, including marine environments and offshore applications.

Wide Elastomer Portfolio

The PA Series, thanks to Santoprene, Neoprene, Buna-N, EPDM, FKM and PTFE diaphragm options, covers a wide fluid spectrum ranging from mineral oils to petrochemical solvents, caustics to solvent mixtures with a single pump family.

Frequently Asked Questions

Metal Diaphragm Pump Frequently Asked Questions

If the working temperature is below -18°C, there is a risk of mechanical impact, pressure above 7 bar is required, or heavy solvent and petrochemical transfer is involved, the PA Series should be preferred. If corrosive acid and base transfer, lightweight priority, or lower budget requirements are present, the PP Series is a sufficient and economical choice.
Aluminum housing is ideal for general industrial applications and processes requiring cost-weight balance. Cast iron is preferred for long-term operations under abrasive slurry and heavy mechanical loads. 316L stainless steel is the mandatory choice for chloride-containing environments, seawater, and highly corrosive chemicals; it demonstrates superior resistance to chloride stress corrosion.
There are two fundamental factors to consider when operating at -18°C: diaphragm material and air supply line. At low temperatures, Santoprene or FKM diaphragms should be preferred, while standard Buna-N (NBR) should be avoided. It is recommended to use an air dryer or heater in the air supply line to prevent moisture freezing.
Yes. PA Series can be used in explosive Zone 1–2 environments in ATEX certified configuration. FKM (Viton) diaphragm combination should be preferred for aromatic hydrocarbons such as gasoline, toluene, xylene and naphtha derivatives. Static grounding line is mandatory during installation.
80 m discharge head is the theoretical value at maximum air pressure in fluids similar to clean water. The actual discharge head varies depending on fluid density, viscosity, pipeline friction losses and connection elements. You can request us to perform the correct sizing calculation for your application.
Thanks to its metal body, the mechanical parts of the PA Series have a longer lifespan compared to plastic alternatives. The diaphragm, poppet valves, and valve seats should be inspected at intervals varying between 2,000–8,000 hours depending on the application. It is recommended that the air distribution valve (ADV) be included in the annual maintenance schedule.
PA Series provides superior performance in the transfer of high viscosity paints, varnishes and resins; with 8.4 bar working pressure and mechanical impact resistance. FKM diaphragm offers long service life against aggressive chemicals in solvent-based paints. Resistance to dry running eliminates the risk of damage when the pump empties between bulk fills.
The PA 05 model is a compact model with 3/4'' connection and has a maximum pressure of 7 bar, while PA 10 and above models can reach 8.4 bar with improved body design and reinforced valve mechanism. For applications requiring high pressure, PA 10 and above models should be preferred.
